Living with Hemroids / Hemorrhoids

What are Hemroids / Hemorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids, also called hemroids , occur when veins in or around the rectum and anus become swollen and stressed and do not readily return to their original state. Hemorrhoids can occur in people of all ages and of both sexes.

Hemroids are usually not a serious health condition and are more of a nuisance which can generally be treated at home with topical medications.  It is important, however, to begin hemroids treatment at the first sign of symptoms, however, since hemroids can develop into more serious problems if left untreated.

Types of Hemorrhoids / Hemroids

There are basically two types of hemroids: internal hemroids and external hemroids.  Each type has its own unique characteristics, and form of hemroids treatment.

Internal Hemorrhoids / Hemroids

Internal hemroids occur when veins in the anal canal become swollen and stressed.  Symptoms of internal hemroids include pain, discomfort and bleeding.

Blood in the stool or when you wipe after a bowel movement is a telltale sign of internal hemroids .  Another indicator that internal hemroids may be present is itching in the anal area due to seepage that may occur during the day.  Additionally, many sufferers feel like they still have to pass stools even after a bowel movement.  While serious pain is usually not characteristic of internal hemroids , discomfort may be felt, especially when going to the bathroom.

External Hemorrhoids / Hemroids

The second classification of hemroids is known as external hemroids.  With external hemroids , there is usually pain in the rectal area, as well as itchiness, irritation or inflammation.  Furthermore, external hemroids can experience thrombosis, which results in a hard lump near the base of the anus.  External hemroids usually respond well to topical hemorrhoids / hemroids treatments in the form of creams or ointments.  There are a number of these types of hemroids treatments sold over-the-counter today which have proven successful in treating external hemorrhoids / hemroids .

Hemroids / Hemorrhoids Symptoms

There are a number of common hemroids / hemorrhoids symptoms that you may experience if hemroids are present:

Itchiness and Irritation in Hemroids

Itchiness and irritation are caused by swollen veins in the anal tissue and are the most common of all the hemroids / hemorrhoids symptoms that sufferers share.  These hemroids symptoms will typically be particularly exacerbated after a bowel movement.

If you experience these hemroids / hemorrhoids symptoms, it is a good idea to seek treatment as soon as possible, to prevent further irritation or a more serious case of hemroids from occurring.

Swollen Veins and Anal Walls – Hemroids

As mentioned earlier, hemroids are caused by swollen veins in the anal tissue.  This swelling is caused by prolonged stress or pressure on the anal area.  This pressure can be caused by a number of factors, including pregnancy, aging, obesity and lifting heavy objects.  Additionally, straining during a bowel movement, such as the kind that occurs during constipation, can result in these hemroids symptoms.

Hemroids / Hemorrhoids Causes

Stress or pressure in the anal area which occurs over a period of time is the main cause of hemorrhoids.  There are many situations which can lead to this buildup of pressure:

  • Pregnancy and childbirth
  • Straining during bowel movements
  • Improper lifting of heavy objects
  • Obesity
  • Sitting for long periods of time

All of the above activities or conditions put prolonged strain on the blood vessels in the anal area.  This is turn can cause the blood vessels to swell and become inflamed, leading to hemroids / hemorrhoids.

Hemroids / Hemorrhoid Treatment

There are a number of steps that can be taken toward a good hemroid treatment.  A healthy lifestyle can not only prevent hemorrhoids, but can help reduce the frequency and severity of flare-ups when they do occur. When diet alone cannot treat your hemroids, we recommend trying HemClear. It has been proven the most effective hemroids treatment.

Possibly the most effective form of hemroids treatment lies in changing your dietary habits.  There are a number of simple steps you can take to eliminate hemorrhoids:

  • Increase your fiber intake – Fiber helps move the stool along more easily during bowel movements.   Adding more fiber to your diet, either via food or supplements, can actually help prevent straining, which leads to hemroids .
  • Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables – Another change to your diet which can aid in hemorrhoids treatment is eating more fruits and vegetables.  Adding even one serving of fruit and vegetables to your current diet can significantly improve the ease of bowel movements, thus decreasing your likelihood to get hemroids . Carrots and celery are quick and effective examples of hemroids treatment snacks that can be added to your daily routine to increase your fiber intake.
  • Make sure you are drinking enough water – Water, like fiber, is essential to good bowel health, and can aid in hemroids / hemorrhoids treatment.  It helps keep digestion flowing and makes stools easier to eliminate.  Increasing water intake is especially important when you increase fiber intake.
